Rules of the Game

Once again we are preparing for a grand adventure--this time on land. We are giving ourselves the gift of a summer roaming the countryside, stopping along the way when we find spots worthy of exploring with our cameras, bicycles, hiking boots, or our minds.

Here are the rules:
  • No superhighways.
  • No chain restaurants (unless truly desperate).
  • Support local independent motels and B&Bs.
  • Seek out places that claim to be world famous, the biggest, the oldest, and the best.
  • Seek out the places that are the opposite of the above.

Since neither one of us leads an unexamined life, no trip would be complete without documentation. Experience shows that when we are responsible only to ourselves, we tend to let our responsibilities slide, but when we have public accountability, we are very diligent. So, to ensure that we keep up with our travel journal (and to share our adventure with the few friends and family members who really do enjoy traveling with us vicariously), we are making a public thing of it. Hence, this blog.
